Laptops > Student Laptops > Connecting to Wireless Networks

You can connect your wireless-enabled laptop in any building with Wireless access using the VPN Client provided by the university.

1. Check to see that your laptop is within range of a wireless access point.

2. Type the following URL into your browser - https://www.work.psu.edu/access/vpn/. This is the only site you can access while connected wirelessly without the VPN client. This is the site where you will download the VPN client.

3. Download the VPN client for your operating system.

4. After the client sofware has downloaded, double-click the icon on your desktop and follow the instructions for installation. Restart your computer after installation is complete.

5. After restart, connect to the Penn State network via the Airport.

6. Then, from your Application folder(Mac) or Program Files(PC), choose the VPN client Software.

7. After the software launches, choose ITSWireless-UP from the list.

8. Click on the Connect button, then authenticate with your Penn State userid and password.

9. if the client connection is successful, it will be confirmed in the lower left corner of the window.
